In Russian regions, prices for taxi trips in September increased by up to 44%, 5% the national average. By the end of the year they will be able to grow between 10% and 100% more. This was announced by the deputy director of the department of state policy in the field of automobile and urban passenger transport of the Ministry of Transport, Vladimir Lugovenko, RBC reports.
The main reason for the increase in prices is the insufficient preparation of the regions for the implementation of the taxi law, which came into force on September 1, 2023.
In early August, the testing of the rules of the new taxi law led to rates increasing fivefold, Maxim Taxi reported. The drivers working on the line were only able to fulfill 2% of the orders and 18 thousand passengers were unable to use taxi services in the usual way.
The minimum cost of the trip increased to 800 rubles. The average bill during the trial period was 2,626 rubles, compared to 326 rubles in normal times, depending on the service.
