Scientists from the East Siberian State University of Technology and Management (ESUTU) have developed an innovative program that can automatically detect changes in the forest environment, such as forest fires and illegal logging. This program uses a neural network model and was created in the Python programming language. Inna Tulokhonova, associate professor of the Department of Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence at VSUTU, spoke on this topic.
Traditional monitoring methods require large amounts of time and human resources to analyze large amounts of data. Thanks to the use of a neural network model, the new program can automatically analyze multispectral images and identify areas where changes are occurring in the forest environment.
This innovative solution could be very useful for environmental monitoring and forest protection. The program, which is compatible with computers with Intel Core i5 processors and Windows 11 operating systems, detects signs of environmental problems such as tree felling, forest fires and forest degradation by using data from various satellites. Developers emphasize that the program uses deep neural networks and image analysis methods to detect patterns and anomalies. It also integrates with remote monitoring systems and automated data processing processes, allowing you to quickly respond to changes and take measures to eliminate them to minimize negative consequences.
