The blogger noted a significant presence of wood trucks in the country, which serve various purposes such as military, agricultural and mining. According to the traveler, such cars have become common in North Korea due to strict economic sanctions and lack of access to oil and gas resources.
Wood burning machines are most common in rural areas, with fewer found in urban centres. Interestingly, these vehicles require two operators: one behind the steering wheel and the other in the back of the truck, who is responsible for cutting the wood into sawdust and feeding them into the engine.
But the blogger noted a significant drawback of such machines: their engines often overheat and require regular maintenance. The blogger also noted that the fuel used (mainly smoke) was so dirty that no engine filter could protect it from carbon deposits.
