After the autumn presentation of the new version of smartwatches, Apple was not criticized only by the lazy. If you remove emotions, then the main complaints against the guys from Cupertino boiled down to the fact that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 did not receive the number of updates, both in design and in terms of functionality.
I decided not to support the popular excitement hate and express your opinion about the new product. I got the Apple Watch Series 9 on my wrist about a week ago, and now I’m talking about my impressions because this watch has several updates that don’t save at first glance.
You don’t show rave reviews because they were all written below regarding the Apple Watch generation. In the case of the Nine, it seems like Apple simply came up with the formula a few years ago. perfect smart watches that do not need to be radically changed externally and internally.
And it works, because the Apple Watch Series 9 habit handles everyday tasks just fine, just a little brighter and faster.
A design that has already become a classic
I received the 45mm watch in Midnight color with a blue silicone strap. Visually, they look like all the voices in this community, that is, they sit comfortably on the hand, the wheel has buttons on its corners on the right side of the body, the silicone strap is fastened and unfastened using buttons, you know all this very well.
The kit has also not changed for several years: in addition to the watch and strap, the box contains a magnetic charger in a braided cable. Of course, the accessory is white, although here I agree with the opinion that it could be made in a color to match the watch, it would be more visually pleasing.
All changes and innovations are hidden in an aluminum case, namely:
● new S9 SiP processor
● internal memory increased to 64 GB.
● offline operation of Siri without the Internet
● Screen brightness increased to 2000 nits.
In addition, engineers installed a new Ultra Wideband 2 chip in the watch to search for a device, but it does not work in Russia. Exactly like the first generation ultra-wideband. So this update will not be useful to us.
Well, the killer feature, the magical gesture of controlling the watch with your fingers, is also not yet available. We are looking forward to the watchOS update, but in the meantime you can activate very similar functionality using the Assistive Touch settings (here are instructions on how to do this).
The new one increases the performance of the AW Series 9 processor by 30%, but the clock does not show any performance gains. They simply open applications quickly, do not freeze, and do not slow down smoothly, like the Apple Watch Series 8. The only thing that stands out in this regard to the “nine” since the end of the last time is that gesture control works a little better.
That is, if in the previous version the watch recognized gestures 7 out of 10 times, now it is 9 out of 10.
I didn’t appreciate the large internal memory because I don’t need to download music to the watch. If you are a fan of long runs and the iPhone in your pocket prevents you from setting new records, this update will suit your taste. You download a few of your favorite playlists, lock your smartphone at home, put on your AirPods and play sports with music in your ears.
Increased brightness is an innovation that really heats up, especially on unforgettable sunny days. Reading information from the screen has become a little more comfortable. Also now, in the Allways on Display mode, the watch updates information on the screen once per second, which has a positive effect on the autonomy of the device.
Despite this, the clock still lasts for a maximum of 2 days, and if no one writes or calls you, but the protocol arrives at least. Usually, with notifications from instant messengers turned on, the hours last for a day.
It’s funny that at the presentation Apple spent a lot of time talking about how the company cares about the environment. Tim Cook personally reported that during the production and transportation of Apple devices, emissions into the atmosphere have been reduced by up to 78%. And the company compensates for 22% by planting forests and other environmental factors and project assets.
Sounds great, except on my Apple Watch Series 9 no treasured inscription Carbon neutral. So during production and transportation it is during these hours that carbon is in full swing. thrown away in the atmosphere. Or not? Unclear. Although, not so important in the grand scheme of things.
Siri now processes commands directly on the watch thanks to the new processor. Again, the difference in the average user is not noticeable in 99% of cases, because to build a route, for example, the voice assistant, as before, must interact with Afion and maps. And if I now say any reminder, I don’t care how they do it – using the resources of a smartphone and the Internet, or not.
The main thing is that it works. Clear, quick, responsive.

For a week I honestly walked around with the Apple Watch Series 9 on my wrist and listened to my feelings: do I feel like innovation? Apart from the brighter screen, for me this watch is no different from the Series 8, which on the one hand is a little sad, but on the other hand it’s good.
Indeed, why break something that already works perfectly? Apple taught us the design and functionality of its Apple Watch and is not going to wear something radically new. This watch is your daily companion and should be fast, reliable and most importantly easy to use. The Apple Watch Series 9 handles all this very well.
For all my love for Apple devices, the ninth generation watch received the most subtle updates in its history. Owners of Apple Watch Series 7 and 8 may not even look at the new product, because they notice absolutely no difference. But if you have an older version of the Apple Watch, then the fast performance and unforgettable screen will be a truly significant upgrade for you.
Considering the same materials, ergonomics and tactile sensations, the Apple Watch Series 9 turned out to be just a comfortable and familiar smart watch, without surprises or incomprehensible changes. This is probably what most users of Apple gadgets need.
