The Cupertino team, replacing promising analysts of the basic 11th generation iPad, quietly introduced a new Apple Pencil stylus with USB-C.

The model turned out to be very controversial. In some ways it has achieved the style of the second generation, and in some ways it is inferior even to the first apple pencil. We studied three generations of styluses in detail and found all the differences between them.

Topic: I bought a Chinese stylus for iPad for 1500 rubles. And you know, he’s not bad

Apple decided to confuse all the names of the new models. For convenience, we will call the Apple Pencil styluses 1st, 2nd and 3rd languages, respectively.

Drawing capabilities

There are three important options that set Apple styluses apart from most models: tilt sensitivity, pressure sensitivity, and Apple Pencil pointing (an iPad Pro feature exclusive to the M2).

✏️ The feature is available in all Apple Pencil models

Tilt sensitivity. Option Allows you to change the behavior of the brush when drawing along with the tilt of the stylus. It imitates drawing with real pencils, markers or chalk, when the area of contact with the paper increases when tilted.

✏️ The feature is available in Apple Pencil levels 1 and 2

Pressure sensitivity. The option records the force of pressing the stylus on the screen. This happened when drawing with ink or a felt-tip pen. The harder you press, the thicker the line will be.

✏️ The feature is available in Apple Pencil levels 2 and 3

Hover over your Apple Pencil. The feature allows you to display the fifth click when the stylus is at a short distance from the tablet. This is an exclusive option for the 2022 iPad Pro on the M2.

Connectivity

All styluses connect to tablets and charge differently. The very first one has Lightning-dad, the second stylus does not have connectors, but the third one has Type-C-mother connector Models differ in the presence of a magnetic connection, fast wireless charging and a wired connection.

✏️ The feature is available in Apple Pencil levels 2 and 3

Magnetic mount. Look to magnetize the stylus to the edge of the iPad. Only works on tablets that were originally supported Apple Pencil 2. The entire line of basic iPads, older Air, Pro and mini styluses will not be magnetic with this option.

✏️ The feature is included in the 2nd generation Apple Pencil

Wireless charger. The option is only available for second generation styluses with adapted tablets. The oldest and newest accessories do not have such a feature.

For the second generation stylus, the connection to the iPad is carried out in the same way. You can reconnect an accessory from one tablet to another in a second.

✏️ The feature is available in Apple Pencil grades 1 and 3

Wired charging. This is how the oldest and newest styluses are connected and charged. The first generation accessory requires you to remove the cap and insert the Lightning connector into the iPad (except 10th generation iPad), while the new accessory requires a Type-C cable.

In the same way, you need to reconnect the stylus to a new tablet.

Additional options

The second generation stylus has two exclusive fish.

Double tool changer. The option allows you to quickly change, for example, the last two tools, a pencil and an eraser.

Stylus engraving support. You can write the owner’s name on the accessory. Relevant when purchasing in official Apple stores.

All differences are brief

This is what the comparison table looks like on the Apple website. No thanks, Tim.

Most likely, in recent years, the Cupertino team has differed from the oldest Lightning styluses and left models of the 2nd and 3rd levels. One will be more powerful with support for all available capabilities, and the second will be more accessible without the need for impact, dual tap and wireless charging.

It seems that the Cupertino team was exactly a year late with the release of the model. TACON apple pencil it had to be released in sync with the base 10th generation iPad.
