But it turns out that all the rumors and speculations are based on misunderstandings. Newly discovered lines of code indicating a possible subscription in preview builds of Windows 11 actually referred to “IoT Enterprise Subscription” and were not related to the general release of Windows.
Microsoft has never made client versions of Windows subscription-based, and there’s no reason to believe the company will change its position in the future.
According to reports, the next version of the system will be actively integrated with artificial intelligence and cloud technologies, but this does not mean that it will be available only by subscription.
This way, users can rest assured that Windows 12 will not require a subscription when it arrives. It may even be possible to upgrade for free, as was the case with Windows 10 and 11 before.
