Currently, to use the web version of Google Messages, you need to open the Pair Devices app menu on your phone and scan a QR code on your computer. However, the new beta version of the Google Messages app develops a more useful pairing method.

The new menu now has a “Sync with Google Account” button. This new method allows users to sign in to the Messages web app with the same Google account to pair devices. You also now need to click on the relevant emoji to confirm the pairing.

While this method may seem less simple than logging into your Google account, it provides an additional layer of security for your messages. If pairing fails, Google will immediately alert you to check for unfamiliar devices signing in to your account.
