Almost half of Russians (47%) began to create official accounts on social networks, where they publish minimal information about themselves and their lives, according to a study by AlfaStrakhovanie. Russians do not want social media pages to become a topic of discussion among personnel managers, colleagues or management.
The survey showed that 67% were asked for the address of their personal page before the interview. The content of personal pages in 19% of cases became the reason for denial of employment, in 31% it generated additional questions from personnel managers or future managers.
43% of Russians indicated that greater interest arose in their lives when they were hired for leadership positions.
When they started working in the new team, 47% of employees created separate accounts for personal use, where they communicate only with family and friends and where they post private information. One in five (21%) did this after colleagues started talking about their personal life or hobbies. Almost one in ten (12%) want to stop using social media to avoid a situation where the team learns information about life outside of work.
13% of study participants created social media accounts specifically to impress colleagues or employers. One in four (24%) made special selections of personal photos, one in three (32%) deleted posts and reposted, as well as the public subscriptions feed. 18%, on the contrary, subscribed to thematic accounts to form a good impression of themselves.
62% of respondents said that they themselves discussed information about colleagues from social networks in the team. 17% are not interested in the lives of their colleagues.
