Yandex announced the launch of a new business direction – electronic commerce. Includes “Market”, “Food”, “Shop”, as well as “Market.Delivery”. This was reported by the company’s press service.

Yandex has combined several services into the new e-commerce business direction

The teams that guarantee the development of these services will come together and work in synergy with each other, explains the company.

The new team will also focus on improving the unit economics of Food, Market and Delivery. The combined team will improve its technological integration. It is planned to develop end-to-end recommendation algorithms that will allow users to create individual product selections based on previous purchases on the company’s sites.

In addition, the services will now use logistics infrastructure, thanks to which customers will receive more convenient delivery options.

For example, “click-to-click” delivery, when a “Market” order is delivered to the “Lavki” dark store and the courier delivers it to home or office when it is convenient for the customer. Currently, every fifth order from the market in Moscow and St. Petersburg is served according to this scheme.

The express delivery process will also be improved. Instead of the traditional “warehouse – distribution center – collection point” scheme, the courier picks up the merchandise at the store closest to the user’s home.

The e-commerce management will be headed by Roman Maresov, who was previously responsible for the “Food” and “Delivery” services. He will now also lead Mercado’s management.

All services and companies related to moving on a single map

Eda and Delivery will be managed by Evgeniy Anishchenkov, who oversaw the retail divisions of these services.
