According to the NCC Group, there were 514 attacks in September; this number exceeded the activity in March of the same year (459 attacks). It was noted that the Clop group, which was especially active in March, was almost inactive in September.

The leaders in the number of attacks in September were the groups LockBit 3.0 (79 attacks), LostTrust (53) and BlackCat (47).

Newcomer to the list, LostTrust quickly took second place, showing off its aggressiveness and ability to scale. Nearly one in five attacks in September was a new ransomware operation.

In terms of geography, the most attacks occur in North America (50%), followed by Europe (30%) and Asia (9%). The sectors most affected by the attacks were manufacturing (169 attacks), consumer sector (94), technology (52) and healthcare (38).
