iMac accessories still use Lightning instead of USB-C
Apple left an unpaid debt to iMac!
During Apple’s “Scary Fast” event, we had the opportunity to learn about the next generation of Mac-specific chips, the new MacBook Pro, and the refresh of the iMac. MacBook Pros have a new space black color, and their new chips, the M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max, will surpass what previous generations did. But, Computer accessories did not experience the expected migration from the Lightning port instead of USB-C.
As can be seen on Apple’s official website, the company still Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard products with Lightning port.
iMac accessories still don’t have USB-C ports
After the company introduced the iPhone 15 with a USB-C port and the second generation AirPods Pro with the same port in order to comply with European legislation, it seemed a logical step for accessories for new computers to follow the same path.
Even reliable analyst Mark Gurman suggested in his Power On column that Apple will continue its plan to move to USB-C with its most popular iMac accessories.
Apple did not meet all expectations with iMac
Moreover, the beginning of the release of Apple Pencil with USB-C port just a few days ago reinforced what we were all waiting for.
But in Apple’s shortest event yet, we only got to see a brief presentation of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, which will feature an M3 chip and a base version. The 24-inch iMac launched with the same design introduced almost 3 years ago, but with the M3 chip.
Although this would have been the perfect date to introduce the accessories along with the port, Apple accepted it and left us wanting the famous One More Thing. Maybe because of history this became the company’s Halloween prank and they plan to make up for it in the future.
