Hackers have discovered a new iLeakage vulnerability in iOS and macOS, which allows you to decorate passwords through Safari.
The hack looks like this: a user visits a website, then in the background opens another website from which the code for a hacker attack is downloaded.
On their devices, hackers were able to access Gmail, YouTube history, and passwords automatically filled in by Safari.
The vulnerability affects all iPhones and Macs with A12Z, M1 and newer processors. In addition, iLeakage bypasses protections introduced to combat Specter and Meltdown hardware vulnerabilities, which were discovered in 2018 in AMD, ARM, Intel and IBM processors.
On macOS, iLeakage only works in Safari, but on iOS it works in any browser.
At the moment, there are no signs that anyone has already used iLeakage. Apple is expected to make fixes in iOS and macOS updates. [9to5Mac]
