In 2024, a recycling fee may be introduced for the import of foreign telecommunications equipment to Russia. It will be applied only in those cases where there are national analogues in the country.

Authorities plan to introduce recycling fees for imported telecommunications equipment in 2024

According to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, quoted by TASS, the fee is planned to be introduced in mid-2024. The minister did not specify the amount of such a fee, but noted that the government supports this idea.

The clause on the recycling rate of foreign telecommunications equipment is contained in the draft strategy for the development of the communications industry until 2035.

To expand the production and use of Russian equipment, it is also proposed to compensate developers with part of the costs of its creation.

It was previously reported that the Softline structure will be dedicated to the production of telecommunications equipment. To do this, the company created an independent organization.
