The National Bank of Kazakhstan intends to tighten the conditions for obtaining bank cards by non-residents of the republic, writes Kommersant with reference to a document published by the Kazakh regulator. The initiative will be open to public debate until November 9.

The National Bank of Kazakhstan proposed stricter conditions for issuing bank cards to non-residents

The National Bank offers to provide payment card issuance services only if you have a temporary residence permit in the republic or a permanent residence permit.

The regulator justified its proposals by the need to reduce the risks of card use by non-residents. We are talking about illegal operations, including those related to trafficking in prohibited substances and the gambling business.

If the new rules are approved, it will be possible to obtain a card only with personal presence in the organization and on the basis of documents confirming the validity of the stay in the country.

It could be an employment contract, a training contract or a residence permit.

At the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan changed the rules for Russian citizens staying in the republic. If previously you could enter the country with a Russian internal passport, in February the Ministry of the Interior of Kazakhstan introduced the obligation to carry a foreign passport.
