Nvidia seems to be the first to launch the top model of the upcoming RTX 40 generation. By leaky @kopite7kimi, the RTX 4090 will be the first Lovelace GPU to be released. The green camp is expected to make an announcement in mid-July.
According to the rumor mill, the RTX 4070, 4080 and 4090 will all feature a different GPU. The RTX 4090 will be equipped with the large AD102 chip and will reportedly receive 16,128 cuda cores. However, this will not yet be the fully-enabled AD102 GPU; 3DCenter speculates that Nvidia would like to see how rival AMD fares with the Navi 30 series before pulling all the stops.
The RTX 4080 will receive the AD103 chip and the 4070 will be based on the AD104. It is not yet clear how many cuda cores these models will receive. Little is known about the AD103 anyway, which leads VideoCardz to speculate that Nvidia will further reduce the AD102 GPU if necessary to make RTX 4080s.
A presentation of the Lovelace generation is expected in mid-July. If Nvidia launches the first card two weeks later, as with the RTX 30 series, we can expect the RTX 4090 to arrive in early August.
