The B-21 Raider is a stealth bomber designed to modernize the Air Force’s existing fleet, which includes the B-1B Lancer, B-2 Spirit and B-52J Stratofortress. The first B-21s are expected to enter service in 2027, replacing older models in the 2050s.
The latest black taxi tests follow the release last month of images showing the B-21 undergoing engine testing. Although details about the bomber remain largely secret, the tests are critical to the flight test program. It allows you to evaluate various systems, components and functions to reduce risk, optimize design and increase operational efficiency.
The US Air Force plans to purchase more than 100 of these bombers.
