Recent revelations have revealed that Apple devices continue to broadcast their real, unmasked addresses, which are then broadcast to all connected devices on the network.

Security researchers Tommy Mysk and Talal Haj Bakri discovered the flaw, and Apple released a fix as part of iOS 17.1. The flaw was present in iOS 14, released in 2020.

This bug weakened the privacy feature from the very beginning, as it was unable to prevent devices from sending requests to discover sensitive information, even when using a VPN.
