Roskomnadzor has banned search results from the websites of the largest foreign hosting providers. The department’s list includes 11 vendors, including Amazon Web Services, Network Solutions and others. They do not meet the requirements of the Russian law on “landing”.

Roskomnadzor banned website search results from 11 foreign hosting providers

Websites of 11 foreign hosting providers have limited search results in Russia. This is stated in a message from Roskomnadzor.

The ban on search results was introduced as an “additional coercive measure” due to the providers’ non-compliance with the Russian “landing” law. Access is limited to Hetzner Online, Network Solutions, WPEngine, HostGator.com, Ionos, DreamHost, Amazon Web Services, GoDaddy.com, Bluehost, Kamatera, DigitalOcean.

Roskomnadzor noted that these companies did not register a personal account on the agency’s website, did not publish a feedback form for Russian users, and did not create a representative office in Russia.

The measure of banning search results is one of those that can be applied in accordance with the rules prescribed by law. Roskomnadzor applied precisely this measure for the first time.
