Experts from the Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences analyzed the water content of three planets Proxima Centauri and found that Planet B is located in a region where conditions may be suitable for the existence of life. Sergei Ipatov added that scientists’ estimates show that this planet can receive a significant amount of water, comparable to the volume of water in the Earth’s oceans.
Researchers noted that the star Proxima Centauri has a mass approximately 10 times less than that of our Sun. Planet B is closer to its star than the ice line and has a mass slightly greater than that of Earth. Water delivery to this planet could occur from nearby regions, including from Planet C’s orbit.
