Gosuslugi has added a passport authentication service, the Ministry of Digital Development reported. With the new function you can know if a document is false and if it was issued by the Ministry of the Interior.
“Such a public service may be necessary before making a transaction, concluding an agreement or in other situations where it is necessary to determine exactly what kind of person is in front of you,” explains the department’s press service.
To use the check, you must indicate the number and series of the document, as well as your first and last name. The service will determine whether the passport is fake, whether its validity period has expired and whether the Ministry of the Interior even issued a document with such data.
The service compares the data received with the database of the Ministry of the Interior. If the passport has expired, an “invalid” message will appear. If the document is fake, the service will display “data not found.”
The department recommends contacting the Ministry of the Interior if the service cannot find a valid passport.
Previously, Gosuslugi introduced mandatory two-factor authentication.
