Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary Cariad has announced a partnership with Chinese smartphone maker Vivo to develop innovative solutions to connect users’ smartphones and other devices to smart car systems.
The two companies have created a joint laboratory in China called Mobile x Mobility Fusion Joint Innovative Lab (abbreviated M Lab), writes Gizmochina. The new company will focus on developing advanced software and hardware solutions that will allow smartphones and smart cars to communicate more effectively with each other.
In particular, we are talking about software research and prototyping in areas such as two-way synchronization between smartphones and smart systems in cars, the integration of user data inside cars, and the seamless connection of AI applications.
The goal of the cooperation between the automobile and technology giants is to create “seamless digital mobility” for consumers. In this case, each party will receive its own additional benefit from the partnership.
The collaboration will help Cariad expand its independent research on smart connectivity and enable programs to better integrate innovation into China’s local digital ecosystem. And Vivo, by connecting to Cariad, will have access to a large user base outside of China.
“We firmly believe in the concept that “alone we can move fast, but together we can go further.” “Vivo, with our openness and sustainability, strives to contribute to the progress and development of the entire industry,” said Vivo Vice President Zhou Wei.
Market experts also see great potential in the partnership for the automotive industry and believe that it will lead to the development of new innovative solutions that will make smart connectivity easier and more convenient for end users.
