A Bloomberg article launched an interesting rumor about the streaming platform Netflix: According to reports, the management is considering an increase in the number of cinema releases and an extension of the length of stay of feature films in the cinema, which currently cannot exceed 45 days.

This is because, despite all of the biggest movie releases of the following year being presented last month in Las Vegas, Netflix was absent. Despite this, behind the scenes, it seems that the platform’s executives have met with representatives of the major movie chains to negotiate new deals. This year, some feature films could already be released in theaters, staying there for more than 45 days, and among the candidates competing for this type of distribution would be Knives Out 2 and Alejandro González’s latest project Iñárritu. If things go well, Netflix aims to release many more movies in theaters so that they stay in theaters longer.

All of this is part of a strategy that Netflix plans to reduce its subscriber base, which for the first time in the platform’s history has been found to be declining and leading to the cancellation of several projects already planned.

In this way, Netflix would also try to meet exhibitors and film chains, who thirst for major releases that can attract the attention of the public, and at the same time, the cinema showcase would be important to get more advertising with its own productions.
