In the class-action lawsuit filed by Guttmann on behalf of users, $1.9 billion in compensation was demanded due to the breakdown of smartphones: Apple was accused of reducing the quality of batteries and installing special software on iPhones that slowed down the operation of the devices.

The court found the prosecution’s requests appropriate, but additional evidence is needed for the continuation of the trial. The court rejected Apple’s claim.

The company did not comment on the court’s decision, only reminding it of its previous statement that it would never worsen user experience to stimulate sales.

The lawyer said the court’s decision was “an important step towards restoring justice to consumers.”
