Prokhvatilov explained that these warplanes are relatively light and do not have significant advances in the field of engines, fire control systems and missile weapons.

Prokhvatilov also suggested that Sweden might seek to retire its aging equipment, supply it to Ukraine and replace it with more modern aircraft, perhaps F-35s from the United States.

It was previously reported that the Swedish government had expressed its intention to transfer Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine, pending approval from the country’s armed forces. It was noted that the timing of the training and education of Ukrainian pilots for these Swedish warplanes will be of decisive importance.
