Chinese scientists from Tsinghua University have developed the analog photoelectronic processor ACCEL, which is 3000 times faster than the processing speed of NVIDIA GPU A100 and consumes 4 million times less energy.

This breakthrough is achieved through a combination of diffractive optics and electronic analog computing; This allows the chip to process data using light, significantly speeding up the process and reducing power consumption.

The system is capable of processing up to 74.8 quadrillion transactions per second with outstanding energy efficiency.

Such features open new horizons for the application of artificial intelligence in various fields, including portable devices, driverless cars and industrial systems.

Additionally, the high image recognition accuracy achieved by this chip can significantly improve machine vision technology.
