This feature allows you to determine if liquid has entered your computer’s USB-C ports. The system, called liquiddetectiond, runs in the background and analyzes data from each USB-C port on the Mac to detect traces of moisture.
This new feature is designed to prevent damage that may not be covered by Apple’s limited warranty.
Note that until recently such a function was not available on the Mac. Although this has been available on iPhones and iPads for a while now, it warns users about moisture in the connectors.
It is important to note that the same official Apple website states that MacBooks and some keyboards are already installed with liquid contact indicators that change color when exposed to moisture.
The addition of a digital liquid detector to USB-C ports is another step the company has taken towards improving device diagnostics.
