The net profit of the banking sector at the end of 2023 will be 3 trillion rubles, the Central Bank reported. In nine months the banks have already made profits of 2.7 trillion rubles; In the fourth quarter the figure will amount to about 300 billion rubles.
Until the end of 2023, the Russian banking sector will receive a total of 3 trillion rubles of net profit. This was announced by the Vice President of the Bank of Russia, Olga Polyakova, RBC reports.
“From January 1 we will cancel the relaxations that are no longer valid, and those banks that continued to use them will have to create additional reserves,” Polyakova said.
Polyakova emphasized that the significant increase in the Central Bank’s key rate did not put pressure on the volume of profits of the banking sector. In the first half of 2023, banks’ profits ranged from 224 billion rubles to 353 billion rubles per month.
