This is what happened with Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system, which found unexpected uses despite the end of support.
Enthusiasts have found a way to use this operating system to block ads on YouTube, thereby bypassing annoying offers to disable AdSense or subscribe to YouTube Premium.
The trick is to change the browser agent string (information that the browser transmits to sites that identifies the type of device and application used to access the network).
If YouTube “thinks” you’re using Windows Phone, it won’t show ads. This method, discovered by @endermanch, may not last long as the platform is quite capable of updating the system to detect fraud, but it works for now.
