Cybersecurity experts suggest a new way to strengthen password protection: using emojis. This unconventional approach not only makes passwords harder to crack, but can also make them more memorable.
According to experts, adding up to five emojis to a password is equivalent to using nine traditional characters.
This means hackers must go through approximately 3,700 options to crack such a password. Kaspersky Lab’s Stan Kaminsky shared this hack on his blog, arguing that emoji emoticons are the best way to use them in passwords.
But Kaminski warns that this method also has its drawbacks: Emoji are harder to enter than letters or numbers, which can slow down the entry process.
Additionally, if you frequently use certain emojis on social networks, an attacker monitoring your activity may try to use them to guess your password.
