It’s been a month since I purchased the iPhone 15 Pro. This is an amazing smartphone that has both pleased and disappointed me.
Although I’ve had some issues with the display over the past few months, I haven’t had any other complaints. We’ll talk about this later separately. In general, I don’t have many complaints about the device.
Before this, I had an iPhone 14 Pro, and I will sometimes compare it with it.
Don’t expect any kind of long post, this is not a review (we have it separately), but impressions – so I will tell a short film about everything. Go.
1. The battery is great, but is the iPhone 14 Pro better?
I practically never let go of my iPhone. It’s just so restored that all the work happens on the smartphone. Any firmware tests, new games, applications and gadgets – everything in my life is constantly tied to this device.
I suffered pretty quickly with the iPhone 14 Pro. Considering that my iPhone’s screen time is 10-12 hours, it was losing battery capacity very quickly. After a month, 99% remained in it, but here it still stubbornly holds on to 100%. And I wasn’t alone. A few months later, there were quite a lot of complaints about this problem, and it affected the entire band of “fourteeners”.
Here, the problems with autonomy are not yet imaginable. Unlike the previous generation, I have not yet had a situation where I was left with empty batteries in the middle of the day during normal use.
Yes, at least once a day, but a power bank will save me. But there were situations when you didn’t have the “can” with you, and here, oddly enough, the new USB-C port comes to the rescue.
It so happens that most of the people I talk to carry Android smartphones, and here they could already help out in a situation where my battery was running low. There were only two such cases, but still. Moreover, you don’t need to worry that the owner of the iPhone is not nearby; anyone can give you a cable, and that’s nice.
At home, I completely abandoned wired charging. Now only MagSafe. It’s convenient and more practical. Just yesterday I ordered this simple stand for MagSafe for iPhone. At the same time, the regime Expectation I’ll finally start using it.
As for autonomy itself, there are no questions at the moment. If you take a weekend when there is almost no work, then One charge consistently lasts for the whole day. Nothing outstanding, there are much better indicators on Android, but for me personally this is enough. Anyway, at the end of the day, the iPhone ends up on a magnetic “pancake”.
2. The performance is super, but there are questions about the A17 Pro PR
An iPhone is an iPhone. He always preferred a theme that worked fantastically fast out of the box. No revelations here.
The iPhone 15 Pro works quickly in all applications, working with memory is carried out taking into account some restrictions – about 10 programs can be safely stored in memory throughout the day.
There is, however, one conclusion, and I’m not sure that it is connected specifically with this generation of iPhones. YouTube may be fading from memory. This is how it was at the start, and this is how it remains today. There are no such problems with any program as with him. It can last in memory for half a day or 2 minutes.
Just close YouTube and spend a little time in other applications, and it will rush to the start page. By the way, I haven’t seen it on any iPhone other than this one. I can’t say exactly what’s causing it, since the problem persists from the moment of purchase until iOS 17.2 beta 2.
I also have questions about the promotion of the A17 Pro processor. Yes, Apple did not promise us the super power of this chip, indicating only that it would be able to run full-fledged port games from PCs and consoles. But why is it so bad? The sensational Resident Evil Village produces 60 frames per second only on selected resources, and only in small locations, like the starting one.
On topic: Played Resident Evil Village on iPhone 15 Pro. It’s pain and shame
Once you go out to the village or go to the castle to meet with Dimitrescu, performance drops to 30 frames. No matter what anyone says, this is a fact. Some may close their eyes to this, but I won’t.
Yes, this is more a question for Capcom, which is optimizing the game. But why couldn’t the game be brought to a normal level so that it would work stably throughout the entire test? This is the first big game for the new chip, and such a failure could not be allowed. With a full 60 FPS, you can play stably only on the most minimal capabilities with development. And in this case, even on such a kitchen screen there will be the wildest soap. I hope the situation will be better with the RE 4 remake.
The problem may be far-fetched, but it is there. The iPhone is not a gaming console, no matter what Apple says. Yes, it’s cool that you can now display the image on an external monitor from your iPhone and play directly from your pocket, but you need a gamepad, a monitor connector, and a special Thunderbolt cable if you don’t have a USB-C port in your monitor.
However, the iPhone itself does not heat up to unpleasant levels and does not discharge quickly in such a powerful AAA design. And it pleases.
3. The camera is a miracle. Shoots great
Although Apple does not make any giant upgrades within the firmware line, it is clear that the company is slowly increasing the photographic capabilities of the smartphone.
I recently went to the new Atom pavilion at VDNKh and noticed how iPhone 15 Pro handles even the most challenging scenes well. And I do it perfectly, even in not the best lighting. A couple of examples for those who missed the article:

Here are a couple of examples of macro and portrait photography:

Well, a couple of maximum zooms in different lighting:

I can’t say that things have gotten much better compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.
However, the iPhone 15 Pro does an excellent job of dealing with photo issues. He doesn’t have any problems with video either. The new stabilizer means that there is virtually no shaking of any kind.
Well, little things
▪️ No button needed. A whole month has passed, and I still don’t understand why the iconic silent mode lever was removed. The new button is almost 100% useless
▪️ The display is scratched as before. Nobody promised miracles in this world. Three small, confident scratches have already appeared, advantages in the light.
▪️ Take white or natural titanium.. These are definitely the most successful colors in the modern generation of iPhones. I have the white one, I saw the natural one live – both look amazing, compared to the other two colors they simply fade
That’s all. There is nothing more to add for now. If I remember anything else, I will update the article.
