Surprisingly, when comparing the 12-core M2 Pro to the M3 Pro, the winner is not so clear. Although the M3 Pro has six performance cores and six performance cores, the performance gains are not as significant as expected, unlike the M2 Pro which has eight performance cores and four performance cores. Benchmarks show a modest 15 percent improvement in single-core performance, leading some users to question whether the upgrade is wise.

Benchmark videos on YouTube, including those by Luke Miani and Jimmy Trees World, suggest that the M3 Pro’s performance may be deliberately limited.

Although the M3 Pro has longer battery life and the ability to connect two external monitors, users looking to upgrade are still hesitant about upgrading.
