After Apple did not release a new iPad model in 2023 for the first time in a long time, 2024 is expected to be an important year for the development of this device series.
Kuo predicts that Apple will update existing iPad models and release a completely new tablet.
Information about the two iPad Air models that will start production in the first quarter of 2024 is particularly noteworthy. One of the models will feature a 10.9-inch display, while the new, larger iPad Air model will feature a 12.9-inch display with an oxide back panel, similar to the technology used on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini LEDs.
Both models could be powered by the M2 chipset, which would be an improvement over the M1 chipset used in the 2022 iPad Air.
Additionally, Kuo mentions that mass production of the two updated iPad Pro models will begin in the first or second quarter of 2024.
These models will have OLED displays, improved design and a powerful 3nm M3 chipset. Despite production delays due to problems with OLED panels, these devices are expected to use the same LTPO rear panel technology found on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Pricing for new iPad Air models may impact the cost of the OLED iPad Pro to maintain the price difference between the two lines. If the price of the 10.9-inch iPad Air remains the same and the new 12.9-inch model costs significantly more, this could lead to higher prices for the OLED iPad Pro.
