According to the latest data, the M3 Ultra has an impressive 80 video cores, which is twice as many as the M3 Max, the most advanced 3nm chipset available.
This breakthrough in GPU technology puts the M3 Ultra at the forefront of innovation. However, although there is a significant increase in the number of cores compared to the M2 Ultra with 76 cores, the performance difference may not be that significant. This raises some questions about the wisdom of such an increase.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the M3 Ultra may also offer a 32-core CPU model with 256GB of combined RAM.
This shows that Apple is aiming for a chip that is not only powerful in terms of graphics but also has strong CPU performance.
Interestingly, Apple uses an “UltraFusion” process to combine two M3 Max chips into a single M3 Ultra; This promises significant performance gains without the need to add an excessive number of GPU cores.
