The German OBI GmbH wants to prohibit its former subsidiary from using trademarks

The lawsuit was filed on November 7 and was admitted for processing. The preliminary hearing will take place on January 10, 2024.

The case materials do not specify which specific trademarks are at issue. At the same time, the plaintiff requested provisional measures.

In addition, another legal entity was involved in this case – the JSC Regional Network Information Center. The organization must provide a response to the statement of claim, as well as data on the defendant’s use of trademarks in the domain.

As the agency writes with reference to SPARK data, OBI FC LLC owns 11 domain names. Each of them includes “obi”. All of them are delegated until May-November 2024.

OBI has been operating in Russia since 2003. In the spring of 2022, the company suspended its activities in the country due to the entry of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine. Soon the company decided to sell the Russian business to a local investor.

In less than a year, OBI FC LLC changed four owners. The last and most relevant currently is JSC Allonge, according to data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. As of November 10, the organization is headed by Arsen Molov. The American Forbes wrote in 2022 that OBI changed ownership as a result of an acquisition by a raider.

This month, OBI started selling products on the Yandex.Market marketplace.
