Threads releases feature to delete account without interfering with Instagram

It will now be possible Delete your Threads account without interfering with your Instagram account. The news was announced by the head of the social network, Adam Mosseri, in a thread this Monday (13).

This feature is available in the account options in the app’s settings menu. Here you will find options to delete or deactivate the profile. The new feature is being rolled out gradually.

When Threads launched, it was impossible to delete your network and Instagram accounts separately. Instagram explained in its Help Center: “Your Threads profile is part of your Instagram account and can be deleted at any time. To do this, you must delete your Instagram account.”

This became a big problem at the time because many people signed up to learn about Threads, but had no way to leave without interfering with the other platform. The only alternative to leaving the site was to deactivate the account.

Upon request, Adam Mosseri promised that the company would work on a way to separate the two accounts.

Another new feature announced this Monday (13) was the expansion of the reach of the platform’s threads. Mosseri states that the feature that carries text broadcasts to Instagram and Facebook has been expanded and now allows them to reach more people.

As always, the new feature needs to be gradually rolled out to all users. If it hasn’t arrived yet, all you have to do is wait and check for updates on the Play Store or App Store.
