Russian Post, together with Russian Railways, has launched regular mail and baggage car services between Russia and China. The company reports that now the transportation of goods between countries will be a third cheaper.
Mail cars will run between Ussuriysk and Hunchun 3 times a week. They are expected to become an alternative to road and air freight transportation in terms of delivery speed and cost, the Post states.
According to the company’s calculations, the delivery time from China for recipients in Siberia and the Far East will be reduced by 5-7 days.
“The launch of regular postal rail services between Russia and China will increase the speed of delivery and stability of transportation throughout the year, regardless of the season, and will also reduce the cost of delivering goods by 30% compared to delivery by road. “, said the head of the Directorate for the Development of Railway and Container Transport of the Russian Post, Yuri Yuryev, whose words are quoted in the message.
The first regular Hunchun train with a mail car has already arrived in Ussuriysk; In total, more than 13 thousand packages were unloaded, which were then sent to the main sorting center in Vladivostok. The total weight of the shipments exceeded 9 tons.
A week earlier, Russian Post launched express transfers to Belarus. The service can be used in more than 30 thousand branches throughout the country.
