The subsidiary of VimpelCom, which is engaged in venture investments, received 12% of the Russian corporate training platform Kampus. With this acquisition, the telecommunications operator hopes to strengthen its portfolio of ventures.
VimpelCom became an owner of a stake in Theories by Practitioners LLC (Kampus) through Hive LLC on November 7, 2023. The amount of the investment is not disclosed.
The Kampus legal entity was founded in 2019 and the platform was launched in March 2021. Among the startup’s clients, VimpelCom mentions X5 Group, Samolet, Bank Tochka, Qiwi, Mitsubishi Electric and other companies, in total more than 40. At the beginning of November, the number of users reached 160,000.
The platform is included in the unified Russian software registry and is accredited by an IT company. VimpelCom chief innovation officer Nikolai Evchenko said he “expects Kampus to strengthen its portfolio of companies.” [«Вымпелкома]”
- According to the Kontur.Focus system, Theories from Practitioners LLC’s revenue at the end of 2022 increased almost 3 times compared to 2021, up to 110.5 million rubles, net profit – 2.7 times, up to 297 thousand rubles.
- The main owner of Kampus is the co-founder of Qiwi Sergey Solonin: he has 55.2% of the shares, Hive LLC received 12% (at the same time, the share of Nadezhda Makova, who now owns 10%, has decreased proportionally ); Alexey Ilyin, Alexander each have 7.6% Limansky and Ilya Dolgopolsky. A 10% stake of Nadezhda Makova is committed to the Moscow Seed Fund (the day before the fund announced that it had provided a loan to Kampus).
VimpelCom registered Hive LLC in 2022. On November 8, the legal entity also became one of the owners of the restaurant cloud solutions service Restik. Another 15% of “Hive” is owned by the online children’s school “Novator School”.
Experts interviewed by RB.RU previously explained that by acquiring shares in new companies, VimpelCom wants to catch up with its competitors in the development of its own ecosystem.
