In 2023, the audience for Russian investment apps grew by 20% and mobile traffic for the most popular ones more than doubled. This is demonstrated by the results of a study conducted by Yota experts based on big data analysis for 2022 and 2023. RB.RU learned about the results.

The number of users of Russian investment applications grew by 20% over the year

Among the applications, the leaders are “Tinkoff Investments” and “VTB My Investments”. The first has more users and traffic volume, the second has more active subscribers, who on average spend five times more traffic.

Investment applications are most often used by Russians over 26 years old. They also provided the biggest increase in market viewership this year. Zoom users are not particularly interested in investing: traffic generated by users aged 16 to 25 fell 8% over the year.

Most of the time, men invest using these types of applications (61%) and they also generate traffic (74%). However, this year women have become more actively interested in investment applications: traffic has grown by a quarter, that of men – by 9%. The application with the most active users was Gazprombank Investments.

Most of the users of investment applications live in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Bashkiria, Tatarstan and the Novosibirsk region. This year, the North Caucasus region is also actively growing: in Ingushetia the number of users increased by 79%, in Chechnya by 71%, in Dagestan by 69% and in North Ossetia by 32%.

In October 2023, an interest-bearing bank deposit and a savings account were named the most popular methods of passive income. This investment method is used by 83% of Russians, according to the survey. Fewer and fewer Russians prefer to invest in stocks, real estate and currencies.
