Former Apple chief designer Jony Ive invested in Cruz, a startup that released a portable blender called BlenderCap for $129.
The company was founded in early 2023 by two former Apple employees, Matthew Moore and Dakota Adams. They both worked on Apple’s industrial design team.
The idea is to stand out with better products and an Apple-honed aesthetic. We’re trying to create products in the Apple spirit.
Matthew Moore, co-founder of Cruz
The great thing about the BlenderCap is that it can attach to sports bottles and make cocktails anywhere. Thanks to patented technology, Cruise can pack a powerful engine into a compact package. One charge is enough to create seven cocktails in 0.9 liter bottles.
The amount of Quince’s investment and the startup’s rating were not disclosed. Sam Ive said the co-founders have “outstanding supply chain experience and deep knowledge of industry practices and processes.” It is “extremely rare and incredibly valuable.” [Bloomberg]
