Large IT companies are represented by their unusual headquarters. Apple has a giant ring-shaped Apple Park.
Googleplex has long gone mainstream thanks to its large number of campuses, cafes, restaurants, bike paths and spacious areas.
Now the unusual office is also available on Amazon. But there is one important detail – it is located in a former prison in the Netherlands.
Prison source in this world for over 100 years

In 1901, the Koepelgevangenis prison opened in the Dutch city of Haarlem, construction of which began in 1899.
It was one of the first prisons in the country, designed in the style of a panopticon., in which one guard could watch everyone turned on at the same time. At the same time, the prisoners themselves could not know whether they were being watched.

The Koepelgevangenis building consists of several floors, along the perimeter of which there were cameras. Unlike the classic panopticon, the watchtower is located on the façade of the Koepelgevangenis, rather than in the center of the dome.
The prison closed in 2016 due to declining prison populations and funding cuts. The monumental building and surrounding area were created by the city. The municipality, in turn, sold it to the Panopticon Foundation, which began reconstruction of the building in 2020.
During extensive renovations, the basement was excavated. This six-screen basement cinema seats 600 people.
An Amazon office opened in the former Natural Country last year
The reconstruction of the building was completed in January 2022, after which the first tenants immediately moved in.
These are mainly small urban companies. The most famous tenant is Amazon. The facility houses the team that develops and maintains the cloud division of Amazon Web Services.
One TikTok user, possibly an Amazon employee, posted a video from the company’s new office. It shows that some of the employees work in an open space under a dome. Former cells are now exposed to meeting rooms. The doors in the cells were not changed, limiting themselves only to new locks.
Some users noticed the irony that Amazon’s new office is located in the former Identity. Previously, the company was criticized for too harsh working conditions in warehouses.
Anyone can work in a former natural country
In addition to Amazon’s office, the site is also home to Rabobank, ROM InWest and BCNL.
Places in the former naturally preserved and full-fledged co-working space, in which anyone can work.
The event also has meeting rooms for small meetings and event rooms for events of up to 124 people.
Cupola XS, the company that runs the former prison, wants to turn it into a full-fledged public space where, in addition to work, you can relax. There is already a cinema in the basement of the building, excursions are held, and on Sundays there are concerts of the local orchestra.
