Designed for use in the aerospace industry, these blades have unique properties that allow them to be maintained at temperatures ranging from normal room temperature to 650°C.
The four methods for the production of these blades developed by scientists are based on the processing of alloys using orthorhombic titanium aluminide Ti2AlNb, the university press service reported. Experiments have shown the good mechanical properties of such blades.
The work was carried out in cooperation with the United Engine Corporation JSC branch. The researchers managed to achieve a unique balance between strength, ductility and toughness of the alloy and confirmed the alloy’s effectiveness at both normal and extreme temperatures.
