Iran’s Khodro Den sedan has begun to be sold in Russia. This car, originally from Iran, arrived at dealer showrooms along with imports. Becoming an economic eastern four-wheeled friend was replaced for 1.6–1.7 million rubles.
Let’s take a closer look at Iran Khodro Den’s new product, but first, let’s remember a little about the history of the brand itself.
Iran Khodro appeared before AvtoVAZ
The company in 1962 was originally called the Iranian National Company. She was engaged in the assembly of commercial buses, minibuses and Mercedes-Benz trucks.
In 1966, under an agreement with the British concern, the Rootes Group began large-scale assembly of the Hillman Hunter, and later began production of this car. On its basis, they are developing their own Paykan model, released before 2005.
Iran Khodro Paykan
In 1979, Iran National Company renamed itself Iran Khodro, where the word “Khodro” means “car” in Persian. Iran Khodro today is a proven modern brand, where the country of origin is indicated in the name.
Now the company accounts for 70% of changes in the foreign car market. The first generation Renault Logan, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mercedes-Benz E-class models, as well as some Peugeot models were produced.
Iran Khodro Den is built on a modified platform from Peugeot 405
The dimensions of the Iran Khodro Den sedan are 4558 x 1720 x 1460 mm, the wheelbase is 2671 mm.
Currently people are contacting us in search of a configuration with a 1.7-liter turbo engine producing 150 hp. and 215 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The maximum speed is stated at 205 km/h.
ABS and airbags in place
The Iranian car offers a fairly generous set of options: anti-lock brake system (ABS), cruise control, rear view camera, heated front and rear seats, heated rear view mirrors, stability control system, rain and light sensor, parking sensors, air conditioning, central locking, as well as a sunroof.
At the same time, the resulting system is simple without any large touch screens. The climate control unit is represented by buttons rather than touch elements. Everything is simple, but it works and performs its functions.
Alternative Lada Vesta
Iran Khodro Dena acts as a competitor or alternative to the Lada Vesta, if you consider buying a new car.
The Iranian representative of the automotive world is more attractive in terms of characteristics. For example, the Lada Vesta in the more expensive Sportline version is equipped with a 1.6-liter engine with only 118 horsepower with a manual transmission at a price of 2.2 million rubles.
Iran Khodro Den with a more powerful power unit is cheaper – the price at dealers is 1.6-1.7 million rubles. You can also get a discount if you trade-in your old car when purchasing.
It couldn’t be done without tar. And there is clearly more than one spoon
At first glance, it seems that there really is nothing in the car, but:
🛑 Old base. The car is built on the basis of the Peugeot 405, so it is cheap to produce and has an inexpensive final cost. However, now 2023 is ending, and the car base that was produced from 1987 to 1997 is being used.
🛑 Related to Peugeot. The engine was developed on the basis of a French power unit from the 1980s, which was nevertheless used in the Peugeot 301. But in our country they don’t particularly like the brand; sometimes, due to design solutions and the Iranian seat, such a relationship will definitely not be a plus.
🛑 Questions arise regarding repairs. For example, what will happen with spare parts and whether their interchangeability with the same Peugeot is possible.
🛑 You can find other, more interesting options. The market as a whole has adapted to the conditions of the sanctions. The panic and excitement have subsided, and prices for many cars are normalizing.
Iran Khodro Den can hardly be called a modern machine. It looks more like a car from our school or student times, that is, a car from the beginning of the 2000s, especially if you look at the interior.
Questions about technical reliability and serviceability make you think twice when choosing this car.
