The announcement was made on a browser support page. “The latest version of Chrome to support Android Nougat is Chrome 119 and will include a message advising users to update the operating system,” Google said.

Chrome is currently at version 119, but Version 120 is expected to arrive in mid-December. So it won’t be long before older devices are left with outdated updates.

Something similar will happen with Google Calendar. The SpAndroid website discovered a warning message for Android 7.1 (Nougat) users in the app’s code.

The program warns, “Your current Android version is no longer supported. Please update your operating system to continue using Google Calendar.”

The latest version of the app already lists Android 8.0 as the minimum requirement to run the app. The structure has not been distributed to everyone yet.

However, the end of support in Chrome and Calendar will not affect the majority of the public. According to Google’s latest survey, only 2.6% of Android users are using Android 7.1.
