GoMars doesn’t stop there; It predicts meteorological conditions for the spacecraft’s descent, including surface temperature, wind, and dust. This groundbreaking model uses data from China’s Zhurong rover, NASA’s Viking 1 and 2 spacecraft, and the OpenMARS dataset.

Principal investigator Wang Bin emphasized the importance of this: “We can now design rovers that can withstand extreme cold based on temperature simulations at the landing site.”

As China prepares to extract rock samples from Mars, the GoMars rollout marks a giant leap in interplanetary exploration, paving the way for unprecedented discoveries on the Red Planet.
