This innovation was announced by the Seoul Metro Education Office as part of strengthening English teaching in public schools.
The robots, developed jointly with a private company, will be supplied to five schools in the capital on a trial basis in March next year.
Artificial intelligence similar to robot waiters will be able to have one-on-one English conversations with students, act as teacher assistants, and perform spoken English like a native speaker.
The robots will also offer personalized instruction, including correcting each student’s pronunciation.
If the trial is successful, the Ministry of Education plans to expand the use of robotic tutors.
