The Sportmaster chain has launched a new format for cities with a population of less than 50 thousand people. These are small “Sportmaster Mini” stores that operate under franchise, Kommersant discovered.

According to the publication, the first points have already been opened in the Kostroma and Krasnodar regions. These are plots of 100 to 300 m2.

The retailer plans to open franchise stores in 250 small Russian towns. The company will integrate the partners into the management system and will be responsible for logistics and the business plan.

Members will also have access to the full range of the network.

According to the operator of a catering chain, who tried to launch an affiliate program in small cities, the income of residents of such localities is 20-30 thousand rubles. This affects the profitability of the points of sale.

The low profitability of regular chain stores in small towns could be the reason for launching a franchise project for Sportmaster, says expert Anna Rozhdestvenskaya.
