Microsoft announced on Tuesday (5) that Copilot will soon be supported by GPT-4 Turbo. Integration with the new model will bring benefits to the assistant the ability to perform longer and more complex tasks.
The assistant’s new “brain” isn’t the only new feature. Copilot will also receive the capabilities of DALL-E 3, artificial intelligence (AI) that generates images based on text descriptions, and a new code interpreter.
GPT-4 Turbo was introduced at OpenAI’s first developer event in early November. It is an improved version of the GPT-4 model, now optimized, equipped with newer information and capable of interpreting requests up to 128 thousand tokens (base text or code unit).
Microsoft hasn’t explicitly stated how integration with GPT-4 Turbo will improve Copilot, but the model should provide more complete answers, mention more up-to-date information, and respond to prompts faster.
Currently, the OpenAI model is being tested with a limited number of users. In the statement, Microsoft did not clarify when the model would be released to everyone.
DALL-E 3 on Microsoft Copilot and Bing
DALLE-3 will also be added to Microsoft Copilot and Bing. This allows you to create more realistic images using text description.
In practice, this feature should work similarly to Microsoft Paint’s Cocreator, but without the need to open an image editor to create content.
New Code Interpreter in Copilot
Microsoft is also preparing a new Code Interpreter (“Code Interpreter” in free translation) for its models. The tool will allow chatbots to perform calculations, code, analyze data, and prepare visualizations more efficiently.
Deep Search on Bing
Finally, there is Deep Search. The tool includes the power of GPT-4 to deliver more accurate results for complex Copilot searches.
When activating the tool, user can add more details about the searched topic and get more relevant results. According to Microsoft, this feature allows the search engine to understand the user’s intent.
“After Deep Search collects a large collection of web pages for review, it ranks them based on how well they fit the description,” the company explains. The entire process may take up to 30 seconds to complete, but the quality is worth the wait.
