Online stores actively use two main schemes to deceive Russian users. One of these concerns fake delivery forms distributed by fraudsters pretending to be sellers via store chats and instant messengers. Users who click on such links and enter their card information risk having their funds stolen, and attackers may also attempt to obtain SMS authorization codes through social engineering.

Another common method is fraud in the refund process. Offering the product at an attractive price, the seller removes the product from stock after placing the order and offers the victim to refund the money. After clicking on the link sent to the return form, the buyer fills out the form but actually loses money.

In order not to fall into the trap of fraudsters, the expert advises you to remember that money transactions in marketplaces are carried out between the marketplace and the buyer. It’s best to manage transactions through your account and be careful when receiving links from merchants, especially if they resemble a store address.
