VKontakte conducted a new study among its users. According to the company, January was the friendliest month in 2023.

The average duration of a friendship is 4.5 years. January had the most invites – users sent 395 million applications. This is 8% more than the monthly average. And on March 13, more than 8.6 million pairs of friends were formed.

A few more facts:

▪️ users prefer to meet people offline on weekends and add them as friends at the beginning of the week: the most applications are sent on Mondays, the least on Saturdays
▪️ the least number of friends, including those born in June, and the most – those born in October.
▪️ the average duration of friendship in VK is 4.5 years: 26% of users became friends less than a year ago, 9% have been together for over 10 years.

▪️ for work up to 20 years, for every 100 added friends there are 51 remote tasks
▪️ men clear familiar lists more often than women: for every 100 new friends, men have 40 deleted ones, women have 36
▪️ women usually have more friends: on average – 132, men – 111

The lack of mutual friends is not an obstacle to making new acquaintances: in 16% of cases, friendship was confirmed, the social network notes. In 34% of cases, the friendly team of companies from 2 to 7 is known by friends.

In 2023, 5.5 million users had at least one friend on VKontakte every day. For comparison, it’s as if all the residents of St. Petersburg got to know each other in a day.

Most often they are friends with a mirror of the same gender: 69% of women have friends who are women, 59% of men have men.
