Elon Musk has said he will take immediate steps to make his artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, politically neutral. The billionaire expressed this position on the X network in response to a publication where scientist David Rosado cited the results of the Political Compass Test using xAI’s Grok and Open AI’s GPT chats.

Elon Musk aims to make Grok chatbot politically neutral

According to the researcher, after analyzing the answers to more than 60 exam questions, it can be argued that the robots have similar political views: leftist and libertarian.

The graph in the publication, as Business Insider writes, clearly shows the positions of chatbots on the “political coordinate axis” (left/right, authoritarianism/libertarianism). At the same time, Elon Musk’s Grok has even more left-wing views than ChatGPT, which seems to have surprised the businessman himself.

“This graph is exaggerated,” Musk wrote in response, “but we will take immediate steps to move Grok closer to a politically neutral position.”

In a later response, Musk added that, in his opinion, the verification using the online test is not entirely correct, and the test itself provoked a number of comments from the owners of X, SpaceX, xAI and Tesla: “Some questions are frankly ridiculous and many are missing some questions or nuances.

And in an even more recent post, Rosado said that literally minutes after the scientist’s post about Grok, he was contacted by xAI’s Igor Babushkin, who reached out “with methodological questions and a sincere interest in improving Grok.”

“What a dedicated team,” the bewildered researcher responded. “Without a doubt, @grok has a bright future ahead of him.”

Musk’s company, xAI, has so far released Grok only for Premium X users and only in beta testing format. The product is still being analyzed but is “improving by the hour.”
